Featured on Yoga Anonymous

In the past few years I have shied away from writing opinion pieces but this week I braved the waters submitting my piece Increase Body Diversity in Yoga Selfies to Yoga Anonymous. They featured it on their site yesterday afternoon and the response on their YOGANONYMOUS.

” target=”_blank”>FaceBook page has been over-whelming.

I feel so much joy and gratitude for everyone that has taken a moment to read it or leave a kind comment. It is such a wonderful feeling to have my voice heard and know I am not alone in my thoughts that “Yoga is not a competition; it is a practice that awakens the soul to new possibilities.”

If you have time, stop by Yoga Anonymous for a visit, and share your own insights.  Visit me at: http://yoganonymous.com/increase-body-diversity-in-yoga-selfies#sthash.euyE5AWr.dpuf

  1. Good point. I agree– and would add that I’d like to see more yoga classes embrace the idea that people of all ages and abilities are welcome in yoga. Around here, it’s all about youthful flexibility and trendy clothes. The days of showing up in sweats and a t-shirt are gone, as are classes for those of us who are less limber and strong. Pity. I miss yoga, but won’t subject myself to the competitive atmosphere of what it has become.

    1. Yoga is a beautiful practice designed for all shapes and sizes. It is said to hear that the studio’s in your neighbourhood only cater to a certain set of individuals.

If you can find the right studio, variation, and instructors it can make all the difference in your daily practice.

    1. I am going to tell you the best yoga pose that you can do anywhere and impress your friends at the same time! It is called the corpse pose – lay on your back, shut your eyes, palms facing sky, and feet spread apart. I bet you already new it as the perfect introduction to a good nap 😉
