Devoted Love

As much as there is delicious reverie, wanton, and nostalgic love there is devoted love. The  one all-consuming love of two people devoted to each other throughout the years. Many of  those years can be arduous and troubled. However, it is their grim determination to work it out that makes them devoted to one another regardless of grievances.

Patty Griffin’s, Long Drive Home, captures the unbreakable spirit of devotion in a realistic look at commitment and love. Regardless of unkind words, poor choices, and regret – there is always love.

  1. Belle, the love song that most reminds me of commitment and devotion is my all time favorite, “Let’s Stay Together” by Al Green. It was also my father’s favorite song. Sadly, he passed away four years ago and believe it or not, I can’t hear it without crying my eyes out. Nevertheless, the lyrics are so amazing and I believe they define what sticking it out really means. Let me know if you agree! Happy Valentine’s Day, my friend! 🙂

    1. It is a really great song! I know there are certain songs that I hear that bring tear to my eyes too. I don’t think you ever really get over a loss of a parent there is always a small part of your heart that feels like something is missing.

  2. Follow You, Follow Me by Genesis. and I’m gonna get all weepy because that song just does it to me for some reason. “every day, is such a perfect day, to spend alone with you.”
    Just a beautiful, simple song.

  3. Mr. Craves and I danced to At Last on our wedding day and boy does that bring back the memories 🙂 We have been married for over ten years and still talk about our wedding day and how special, beautiful and romantic that day was for the two of us – sappy I know.
