Finding Paradise

It was over ten years ago we went to Varadero with the joy of vacation. We scraped together enough money to stay at three star hotel to rejuvenate in  the warmth of the Cuban sun. It was heaven!

We were blessed to have our parents split a week of watching their grand children while we were able to get a much-needed break from the hum drum of day-to-day life.

The live music on the beach, the smell of cigars, and dancing in the city streets of Havana is what we needed to rejuvenate from the stress of it all. It was a moment were there was no expectations but just the beauty of being free to be yourself without the heavy expectations of work or parenthood.

Life takes us down many roads and the ones less expected are the ones that sometimes bring us the most joy. I will never forget the warm nights and dancing to the beat of a different drum.  Sometimes a week in paradise is just the ticket to get things back on track and energize a tired soul.

  1. It’s been 10 years since hubby and I had a similar getaway. And, it was also Cuba! I loved it. Would love to go back again. Hopefully it won’t be another 10 years gone before it happens.

  2. My son tells me that it’s been quite cold of late where you are. That, plus the ever shortening days has to make the thought of a get away so much more attractive. With the snow falling, falling, falling outside my window I assure you that I hear you!
It’s going to be a while before the sun graces our porches and decks, invites us to come outside. I don’t know about you but for me, at least for now, contentment will have to come from whatever “inside” has to offer. Too cold to roll up the sleeves and work outside, still too warm to put on the skis and play outside. Books and the Internet, I guess that’s it.
Oh, yeah, and the stuff that needs doing around the house.
Did I just say that? Nah–not today.

    1. The weather has been atrocious! We just got back from our second trip to Cuba and the weather was beautiful. It is nice to be able to book a last minute get away. Now I am back retreating to my blanket and books by the fireplace.
