The Act of Setting Intentions

I love to wake-up to the sound of the humming fridge in the quiet of the morning. It is only when I hear that silent humming that I know I have an hour to  reflect on the day before the rest of the world wakes-up. In the past month I have begun writing down one intention that I must act upon each day. It can be simple as having a conversation with a stranger in the coffee line.

The next morning I reflect on the intention from the previous day and jot a note about the outcome. It was surprising to discover that almost all of the results had a positive impact on my  day. I believe taking a small moment to reflect on our dreams, fears, and act upon it can help fill our spiritual well for creativity.

It can be a  simple gesture  of kindness  or  easy as setting a timer to tackle the junk closet where the dust bunnies have formed a colony preparing for a world domination. The act of setting an intention and taking action puts you in control of a small piece of your life.  It helps you take small steps in overcoming the fears that hold you back from creating the dreams that stir within your soul.

  1. I love this. I often come up with all these things I’d like to do… but don’t. I guess I get overwhelmed by all the ideas. But writing down one intention in the morning- that’s not overwhelming at all. And I love that you keep track of the results too. Can’t wait to try this. Thanks!

  2. I LOVE THIS. like not just a little love, big fluffy pink heart covered in sprinkles and glitter Love. I think it’s such a great idea to do this every day – I’ve been having a hard time seeing that I do Anything anymore: and yet cleary, with a home, hubby, 3 kids and now a cat, I do a lot. But maybe it doesn’t feel purposeful: I need more Intent! 🙂

    1. Awww! Shucks! Thanks!

I felt the same way and just another cog in the wheel. It is so simple to set one thing a day that is yours for you to act upon that it can help to make small changes in your life.

  3. I love this! It seems like a great way to stop and really be aware of your life and the type of energy you want to bring to it. I started my own blog out of a similar desire to be more aware the little things in my life and the importance of being more intentional in how I go about my day. Thanks for sharing!
