I Love the Cheese!

It was just the other day as I went through my spam comments that one struck a nerve . It said “Your blog is just as bad as Norwegian Carrot Cake.” It was at that moment I snorted out my coffee and reflected on his kind words.

If I were to compare my blog to a food item it might be the stench of Gouda cheese, on a good day smooth havarti, or sometimes I will go wild like jalapeno cheddar. But never in my craziest dreams  did I think I would ever be compared to Norwegian Carrot Cake.

It was with grim determination I had to investigate!  The surprising fact I discovered from my investigative research is Norwegian carrot cake is not bad at all!

It is full of warm spicy goodness with a delicious cream cheese icing. How could that ever be bad?

So thank you Mr. Spammer for making my week! I love being compared to such a wonderful dessert! I guess that means I can have my cake and eat it too! The best part is it even has cheese in the icing!

What specialty dish best describes your blog? Is it a spicy dish that knocks your socks off? A big bowl of spaghetti and meatballs? Or a succulent dessert?

  1. Creme Brulee! I have a crunchy exterior (a.k.a. snarky) and a squishy, creamy, soft and gooey center. 🙂 Of course, I only say that because I want something sweet right now. Carrot cake is one of my favorite desserts!

  2. Mmmmmm. Norwegian carrot cake?!?! I’ve never had it, and now I have to try it. Send my regards to your spammer, will you? 😉 I don’t know what dish would best describe my blog, but I often eat popcorn while writing it. A little salty, a tad messy, satisfying after a long day (to me, anyway!), and usually taking up far more space than it should…. Yeah, that’ll work! =D

      1. I had to really think about this one. We have a restaurant in Winnipeg called Fude and it serves a dish that expresses me and my blog. I always think of myself as a bit of a contradiction. To long to explain here, so I’ll save it for a blog post.

I am “Chocolate Chili Chicken”. Here is the description right from the menu. Never before has my mouth become so alive from the food within it. Each time I go, I swear I will order something else, and I don’t.

Manitoba free range chicken breast, seared then grilled to finish, slathered in a house made dark chocolate sauce off-set with a spicy cayenne cream and chilies.
That is what represents myself and my blog.

  3. Oh, I’d say mine is an unthought out mess of whatever is sitting closest to the door when I open the fridge – heated up and thrown into a tortilla – With some salsa and hot sauce on occasion.

  4. That carrot cake sounds fantastic. My husband and I actually wanted carrot cake for our wedding cake but got overruled by my mother-in-law since she was the one paying for it. Now we have carrot cake on our anniversary.

I think my blog would be compared to roast and potatoes. Perhaps a little boring at times, but a favorite and a comfort none-the-less.

    1. I love carrot cake! It is the perfect treat especially in the cold winter months! I think it would have been perfect for a wedding cake!

Roast and potatoes is never boring! It’s full of spice and everyone is satisfied after a hearty meal 🙂

  5. I’m going with pizza for mine. Usually slapped together rather carelessly with any number of cheap ingredients and hastely baked – but most often pretty darn good when all is said and done – if not a bit messy.

And best yet, no dishes to wash!

  6. Ewww, loved how you snorted out your coffee…haha!
I would have to say, Simply Charming is like a big bowl of hot grits…always good for comfort (for me anyway), can be served at all hours of the day, sometimes sweetened with lots of sugar or heavenly with lots of real butter (not margarine acting like butter) and if you get too much, it can put you to sleep real fast…just like my blog does to me sometimes. Okay, a lot of times. zzzz…zzzz.

  7. At least its something different! I always get the same comment, “Hey cfagbag nice cfagbag site”

I always read cfagbag as c fag bag, which doesn’t make it any better LOL

  8. Mine is probably Froot Loops (cereal). On second thought, it *is* decidedly cheesy and does probably stink sometimes, so if it’s cheese I suppose I must be represented by the notorious Gammelost (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gamalost), which Wikipedia describes very tactfully as “pungent” but my family would describe more accurately as “kills everything within a 30-mile radius”, or “stores well because it’s already rotten when it’s manufactured and therefore cannot spoil”.

I don’t want to burst your spam bubble, but I have received the same Norwegian Carrot Cake evaluation, and not just once, mind you. I can’t tell yet whether my having put the word “Norwegian” in any of my posts has made me the lucky recipient in those instances, but if so I’m just glad I didn’t receive any communiques from the World’s Creepiest “Comedian”, Carrot Top. I’d rather be Froot Loops any day!

    1. I love Fruit Loops! They are always full of sugary goodness!

I would love to get a spam note from Carrot Top! He’s really funny! I saw him in Vegas once and it was a riot! As for the Norwegian spammer you would think he would get new material! Gesh! I guess he is not so original afterall 😉

  9. Have your cake & eat it too! I love that! You are so cute… I love how you take a spammers comment and make it not only a post but a compliment. You are a talented lady!

  10. I LOVE this! I feel like I need to go through my spam comments now hehe.
I love pretty much every cheese, so no matter what kind yours is, I’ll still be reading!

I think mine is a junk food buffet. Buffalo wings, pizza, Taco Bell quesadillas, potato chips. Nothing too serious (usually) and always a variety. But they’re probably all really bad for you. 🙂

  11. I am pleased to pass The Candle Lighter Award along to the Belle Of The Carnival’s Blog. You shed great light with just the right mix of truth and humor! You may read about the award at growthlines.wordpress.com/. Congratulations!

  12. How a spammer expects to get someone to come back to him after a comment like that is beyond me. What a silly billy.

Warm, spicy Norwegian cake: yes, I would say, it does equate to the experience of reading the words here. Always feel-good, always pertinent, generally funny and uplifting. Thanks for all the posts you write 🙂

  13. I have no idea! Hopefully something enjoyable, like Nutella. Since I have been taking many days off lately, I suppose it’s like an empty plate!

I got two mean comments from spammers this week. Why are people like that?

  14. You got a SPAM comment that compared your blog to Norwegian carrot cake? Wow, usually the stuff I get is bogus crap like “You liking write, come see products our hair thank you.” It’s really ridiculous stuff, so pay no attention to it. Besides, carrot cake is pretty delicious, so this guy clearly has bad taste and doesn’t know what the hell is going on. 😉

  15. Good question! My blog and food. Okay. It has to be spicy since I love spicy food and I love traveling, so the food has to be internationally recognized. My blog is pretty much about life events/philosophies. So, I need to find food that are kind of reflecting upon our lives. I also talk about parentings.

Let’s see, noodle comes in mind. I love noodle/linguini. You can cook it spicy and it had traveled from China to Italy. So, it is pretty much internationally recognized. And It is long, just like our lives.-hopefully. Plus kids love them. So that kind of fit the parenting part.

That is it! My blog is all about life events/parenting/travel experiences. –Noodle!
