Bathing Beauties

The quiet walks along the beach are a time to take in the beauty as the sun shines across the ocean blue. A sea turtle may sidestep in front of you, the starfish lies ahead buried in the sand, and the pelicans dive in for their breakfast. It is at these times you reflect on the beauty that surrounds you.

However, nothing is more beautiful when you watch two women over the age of eighty frolic in the water. It’s tempting to take their picture as their youthful spirits and laughter come alive as they play in the waves.

They let the ocean throw them about  and all you see is  the glimpse of two beautiful swim caps adorned with plastic flowers bobbing in the water. It is the colorful flowers on their head that emphasize the zest of their  youthful spirit. It is at these times and moments that growing old doesn’t look so bad.

These bathing beauties are a pleasant reminder that a  girl regardless of her age will always have fun in the sun.  I just hope I am as spry as those two bathing beauties!

Will you be a bathing beauty at the age of eighty?

  1. You painted a beautiful picture… I sure hope that I’ll be a “bathing beauty” when I’m that age…I can see hubby’s grandma in my mind swimming her laps with the flower cap on!!! 🙂

  2. I really, really hope so. It’s our dream to retire somewhere warm, and our hope is that our kids will be successful enough in their own lives to come along with us. I would love to be eighty-plus and wading out into the surf in my flowered swim cap, towing along a flotilla of great-grand-babies in PFD’s 🙂

  3. I think you know my answer to this one 🙂 I am the ultimate beach bum, and if I am alive at 80, I will still be worshiping the sun. I just hope that my friends make sure I am wearing a one piece suit… PLEASE, PLEASE don’t let me think I can get away with a bikini… PROMISE????? please?????????

  4. Yeah that sounds like something that would make you smile when you watch it! When I went to a Greek festival over the summer there was this elderly, petite lady wearing a dress who was dancing around the whole platform having the time of her life while waiting for the performers to begin their dances. I got a few pictures of her and her face is just lit up with joy and I was smiling along with her. She was just floating around by herself and spinning and twirling her dress. 🙂

  5. Personally I vote you cold-place ladies retire here to the NC coast. Think of the trouble we could get into! By our 80s we will be completely out of control. Bathing, heck yes, with or without…. uh, swim caps. 🙂
