An Offering to the Blogging Gods

It was yesterday the sky was dark and bleak. I was scrubbing the floor and toiling with ideas for my next post. I was ready to rant  about another day with my mop when I slunk at my computer opening my inbox only to discover notifications for comments upon comments!

I scrolled down, “Sacre Bleu! This cannot be!”

A message appeared from one of the blogging gods” Congrats! Your post ( has been promoted to Freshly Pressed on the home page.”

I jumped from my chair, my heart leapt into my throat, and I ran out of the room to call my husband. It was with that moment I tripped over my baggy sweat pants, smashing my  face into the wall! It was despite the pain – I ran up the stairs only to trip on the last step, falling once again, sending my wrist into a throbbing yelp!

I grabbed the phone, dialed his number, and  anxiously waited for him to answer “Honey! I made freshly pressed!”

“What? Your coffee is freshly pressed?”

“No! A story wrangler has decided to feature my post on Freshly Pressed!”

“A story wrangler?”

“You know an editor! A blogging god has decided one of my posts is good enough for freshly pressed.”

“I’m still not getting you.”

It was with exasperation and excitement I hung up the phone! Only to run down the stairs, trip on my treacherous pants, and hit the floor! I ignored the pain like a trained athlete and sprinted back to the computer only to send  the  miraculous  link to my husband.

I then began to  play peek-a-boo with my blog for several minutes. Did this really happen? It did. I would then shut-off my screen and turn back on the  screen. Yup my post is still there…

The past two days have been exciting, over-whelming, and I am thrilled that the Blogging Gods granted me the gift of Freshly Pressed!  It with this I offer you my most biggest and awkward hug!  Thank you for you for  making this little blogger one very bruised and happy gal!

  1. That’s how I came across it. I can so relate….my husband never read my blog until I posted “Living with Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” and then became intrigued. Glad to connect with you, and thanks for following my blog as well.

  2. Ha! I did the same thing when I got Freshly Pressed (same time as you, I think). I kept looking and wondering, “Is that really my blog up there?!”

  3. Watching email after email of comment post was hilarious! I know you do a great job of tending your comments, and could picture them piling up behind you.

    Congrats, is well deserved!

  4. I am so happy for you! Got to love the perplexed husbands.. I kept telling Marc about your post yesterday & today, and he was just not getting how exciting it was… UGH! I am so thankful that you got such an amazing recognition because you are an amazing writter!!! I love ALL your posts! And, it makes me feel so good (selfishly) that you kept tripping over your sweatpants because that is what I would do! 🙂

    1. Thank you! I’m glad somebody gets it! My poor husband still is scratching his wondering what it all means 🙂 I’m also glad to know I’m not the only one to trip over sweat pants. I swear I am a walking disaster!

  5. I knew it – I knew it from the first few posts I read! I was curious enough to ask about books you’ve written! See there? Do I have good taste, or what? !! You earned this by being talented, giving, and loving. That’s just the kind of person you are – and sometimes the ‘good guy does win!’

  6. 1. I am a short girl, so ALL my sweat pants are treacherous, and I totally feel your pain.
    2. You’re like a super star now and I’m totally jealous.
    3. That sounds like the EXACT reaction my husband would have, too.
    4. I swear I’m not some creeper…I found you on Freshly Pressed (like so many others!! Congrats!!) and I just like your blog super-a-lot.

Congratulations again! Maybe someday the Blogging Gods will smile on me with favor, too!! 🙂

    1. Your comments make me laugh! Thank you for stopping by and visiting! I really appreciate it! And I agree sweat pants are extremely treacherous! If you saw this evenings assemble you would note that I am by no means a super star. I also hope someday you are on Freshly Press and I can smile remembering when…

I hold myself to the bar you have set and look forward to improving my writing skills.

Thank you for sharing your journey. Your stories bring me amusement, joy, gratefulness and intriguing questions.

  8. I am so very proud of you! But rest assured, your honor isn’t so much the result of a blog god, as it is from your hard work and dedication – enjoy your press, you deserve it =]

It is a very good blog and well deserving of being on Freshly Blogged. I am glad it was because now I have a good blog to read! Congrats!!!

  11. Congrats!!! And that is exactly how I came across your blog! I liked the topic of awkward hugs, since that’s how I always feel, too. And I thought to myself “Hey, this girl is interesting and a good writer!” So I decided to ‘follow’ your blog! And p.s. thanks for following back. 🙂 My blog is a little hard to understand unless you’re a friend of mine or have been reading all the entries from the beginning, but isn’t that what a blog often is about? Random thoughts from the writer.

Way to be an awesome random writer!!

  12. Funny post! I do hope your bruises heal nicely.
I just wanted to say thanks. You have been constantly bombarded with comments and followers and emails. But you still take the time to respond.
When you commented on my post yesterday, I seriously ran over and showed my work buddy the email: “This is the girl from the Freshly Pressed! She commented! And followed! She read MY post!” I could not believe you took the time to do that; you are such a kind, personable person. So, thank you and I hope your blogging fame continues to grow–you deserve it!

  13. Nice work – I started bloggin about a month ago and am ecstatic that anyone is actually reading mine, almost 3000 hits, It is truely blowing me away!
