It is when I lookout over the water and the changing night sky it gives me clarity and peace. The moment I leave the beauty of east coast behind to venture back to the west I feel a twinge of regret.
I always delight in the beauty and the reflection of the water. A stroll along the rocks makes a restless night one of serenity.
I know the ocean side by memory the changing hues of color, the sound of ripples across the rocks, and the slow movement of the moon as it begins to reflect across the water.
It is this knowing in which my heart always stays close to home because it never forgets the open water.
Do you have a special place in your heart that brings you close to home?

Beautiful Photos! I think of my other half and that brings me close to home:)
Thank you! It’s nice to feel a warm embrace and know that you are home
Drool. Lovely pictures. I own a piece of dirt in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and I’m determined to have a shack on it someday.
Thank you! I would love to own a spot in the blue ridge mountains! It would be heaven! If you need help building a shack I am very good at coffee delivery
The Eastern shore is so very different from the West. The long lazy lapping shores of the East are so enticing, the discoveries on the sand so different from the West with its rocky shores and crashing waves (those darn tectonic plates). Plant me on either coast and I will die a happy soul.
I feel the same way
Some day I will have my cottage by the ocean side and you will have to visit!
Awesome pictures…. I think of home as more a feeling than a place…. Does that make sense? But I also think that the ocean makes me feel at home. I have never lived more than 15 minutes away from the ocean…
Thank you! It does make sense because home is always in our heart. I miss the ocean but we trade them to be closer to the mountains. But I will make my way back there and will be living as close as possible to the water.
So peaceful….Feel like I’m on vaca:)
Thank you! I hope they give you a little break from the hustle and bustle!
They do thanks!
Oddly, the place that brings me closest to home, is the place I lived farthest from it. Okinawa, Japan.
I bet it was a beautiful spot. What was one of the things you loved about it?
Honestly – and while I could mention the lush landscape, the warm weather or the crystal clear ocean – I think it was the freedom of the place that I loved best. Over there (or then) it was just about enjoying life, versus accumulating it. There, it was about being the happiest you possible – just like home.
Sounds wonderful! I think I want to go there
Oh, Belle: what beautiful pictures. The sea has something infinite about it, doesn’t it: a vast swathe of nature.
Thank you. It really does have something that is infinite and timeless when you lookout over it’s horizon. I will always choose it over the prairies.
Great pictures, so ethereal…..I loved your parting line, “Do you have a special place in your heart that brings you close to home?” In my mind’s eye, it is genlt gurgling pool with the flow lapping at my feet.

Thank you. It was a very beautiful evening. I think it would be refreshing to dip your toes in the warm evenings to cool off and get a little piece of you time.
And yet, there’s a reason the phrase “amber waves of grain” entered the language and the song “America the Beautiful”. I love the water, but watching the wind set the grain in motion is near and dear to my heart.
On the prairies it is beautiful to see the big huge sky…But on the hot days I long to dip my toes in the water.
in my heart longs for the cool ocean breezes, the gentle sounds of waves lapping across my toes and the tender night moon to fall asleep with…i love you photos!! i think my heart is in them somewhere…lol!
Thank you
We lucked out to have such beautiful weather on our trip! It was lovely!
This reminds me of PEI!
I am from Singapore and even a little bit of rainfall reminds me of home. It makes me so nostalgic!
I love PEI it is such a beautiful spot!
Gorgeous photos! I think it’s seeing the moon and stars at night that brings me close to home, because when I was younger, my family used to always go out on the front lawn and look at the constellations with a telescope. It was one of those little things that ended up being one of the biggest things later in life.
I love looking up at the stars at night! What a wonderful memory to have! Did you watch the meteor shower this past weekend?
No, I missed it! Did you see it? And, did you make lots of wishes?
The last time I saw one of those was a few years ago, but it was so neat!
I did makes lots of wishes and still waiting for at least one to come true
It is really neat!
